HAM RADIO - N1ERK All my hobbies have their roots in things that I did as a kid it seems. I remember as young as 6 years old sitting with my dad at his ham radio and talking to his friends in Iowa from Ohio. After moving to Germany in 1983, we would talk to the same people across the ocean. In 2001 I studied for and earned my Technician class license which basically allows you to talk locally (within the state). I decided to upgrade my license in 2010 and earned my General class license, basically allowing me world wide communications. My call is N1ERK (vanity call which includes my nickname AND it sounds like "Newark" - the city where I live). I only have a Yaesu VX-5R HT and a Kenwood TM-271. I'd like to pick up a Yeasu 857 next as my primary radio.
